Tuesday 2 July saw the U13As welcome Clanfield to Ripsley Park on another sunny evening with the home team keen to reverse the result from earlier in the season. Clanfield won the toss and decided to bowl and Liphook opened strongly with George K making 14 and Luke 30. Star performance was from Tom, who retired not out on 46. They all played some proper cricket strokes against a good Clanfield bowling attack. That attack came good with a mid order collapse but, Liphook finished their 20 overs on 144/6, with Charlotte carrying her bat yet again.
Liphook took to the field with Evelyn as captain and Ben stepping into keeper. The first overs were tight, but half way through it was still game on. However, great bowling from George K (2.4 overs, 2 for 7) and Luke (2 overs, 2 for 7) eventually saw Liphook gain the advantage. Ellen, Evelyn and Charlotte chipped in with important wickets, while Ed and George C worked hard in the field. The win eventually came when George C took a worldie one handed catch at slip to end the Clanfield innings on 93.
Thanks to both teams for a match well played and to all the parents who make it possible.
