Hursley Park, winners of the Cricketer National Village Cup in 1992 came up against last season’s Lord’s finalists, Liphook & Ripsley, but were defeated by 8 wkts at Ripsley Park.
Man of the Match Liphook’s Rob Nicklin helped limit the visitors to 169 all out with a late spell of off spin, taking 4 of the last 5 Hursley wickets. The total had been set up by Hursley opener Tom Flynn 57 who shared in a 50 run partnership with Dylan Croucher but wickets fell steadily after both had gone with the score on 133-6. Grant Rouse claimed four critical catches in the field.
In reply, Nicklin and Chris Martin 43 played freely registering 85 for the 1st wkt. No 3 Harry Munt 43 with 16 year old Anthony White 17 finished undefeated as the Hursley total was overhauled with 5 overs to spare.
